Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit opened the Third Arab–China Forum on Global Development and Governance on Thursday, praising the growing academic and strategic partnership between the two sides.
Speaking at Fudan University, Aboul Gheit commended the institution for co-hosting the forum and for its sustained efforts since 2023 to strengthen Arab–Chinese cooperation in higher education and research. He highlighted the deep historical roots of relations between the Arab world and China, dating back to the ancient Silk Road, and noted that recent milestones — including the 2022 Arab–China Summit in Riyadh — have ushered in a new phase of collaboration.
Aboul Gheit also underscored the impact of a 2023 memorandum of understanding with Fudan University, which led to joint research programs, exchange initiatives, and the establishment of the Fudan Arab Center for Global Development and Governance.
He affirmed the Arab League’s commitment to advancing academic exchange as a foundation for sustainable development and stronger Arab–China ties.
