The Arab Women Investors Union hosted the Arab-Asian Trade and Investment Forum in Cairo, bringing together Egyptian and Sri Lankan officials and business leaders to explore new strategic partnerships and investment opportunities.
The event, organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Sri Lanka, focused on expanding trade, attracting investment and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries. Union Chairwoman Hoda Yassa said the forum aims to open new export markets, localize advanced industries and deepen cooperation with Asian economies.
Sri Lankan Ambassador Sisira Senaviratne highlighted investment opportunities in sectors including textiles, technology, fertilizers, infrastructure and tourism, noting that bilateral trade currently stands at about $270 million annually.
The forum also promoted the 29th Arab-African Investment and International Cooperation Summit, scheduled to take place in Luxor on Oct. 18–22, 2026, where Sri Lankan officials and business representatives are expected to participate and sign new cooperation agreements.
