The Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs convened an extraordinary session Thursday to discuss the worsening social and humanitarian conditions in the State of Palestine and the Republic of Lebanon amid escalating developments.
The virtual meeting was held in implementation of directives from Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and was chaired by Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Maya Morsy, who currently heads the Executive Bureau.
Ministers listened to briefings from Palestinian Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad and Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Haneen Al-Sayed on urgent humanitarian needs and the social impact of ongoing crises in both countries.
Following the discussions, the bureau issued decisions to provide support to Palestine and Lebanon, tasking the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to coordinate with Egypt to implement measures aimed at improving social conditions.
The bureau also commended Arab countries for their continued humanitarian and social assistance to both nations.
