"I24News", an Israeli satellite channel, said that a minor Arab party, led by Mansour Abbas, a Palestinian dentist, may join the next government in Israel after announcing the final results of the legislative elections of the 24th Knesset.
Hebrew media revealed that after counting 90% of votes in the last Israeli elections, the Likud party chaired by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu won 30 seats, Yesh Atid ( in English means there is a future ), 18 seats, the Unified Arab List led by Mansour Abbas, 6 seats, Yamina ( toward the right, 7 seats in the next Knesset.
Abbas said that the major challenge faces his party is how to make it a political, independent, and influencing force in the Israeli political spectrum.
He asserts that he is very cautious in touching politics or contacting leaders of the winning parties over the coming period.
He pointed out that he and his supporters look forward to making their party an influencing power in Israeli politics for the welfare of the Arab community.
He stressed that all should parties should wait until the final results to be announced later tomorrow, Friday.
Abbas added that surprises may occur in the few hours to come as uncertainty blankets the political situation.
He unveiled that he had met with Yair Lapid, chairman of Yesh Atid party because that later promised to deal positively with affairs of the Arab community in either the Knesset or government being formed.
Abbas negates that his party neither supports the right nor the left in the political spectrum in Israel but the party has legitimate demands as a representative of the Arab citizens .
He warns the Arabs paid a heavy cost for excluding and insulting them of sequent Israeli governments over the decades following the establishment of the Hebrew state in May 1948.
