The "United Arab List" party announced freezing its membership in the government coalition in Israel, headed by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, against the backdrop of daily tensions in occupied Jerusalem since the beginning of Ramadan, and the attacks by the Israeli police on Palestinian worshipers.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted party leader Mansour Abbas as saying today, Monday that "the decision to freeze membership in the government coalition and the Knesset may turn into a complete withdrawal if the government continues its policies in Al-Aqsa.
Abbas conveyed to the government coalition a message of reassurance that the decision to freeze membership aims to satisfy the Arab street after the criticism leveled at his party.
Experts pointed out that there are fears that this crisis with the United List will lead to the withdrawal of another Knesset member from the right-wing bloc in the coalition. The decision to freeze will be valid until the end of the current Knesset recess, which continues until May 8, which means that it will not have political repercussions.
