Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi welcomed the announcement of the completion of a Palestinian national committee to administer the Gaza Strip, describing the move as an important step toward restoring stability, improving humanitarian conditions, and preparing for the transition to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, Wafa News Agency reported.
In a statement, Al-Yamahi expressed deep appreciation for the sincere and intensive efforts exerted by Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, as well as the sponsorship of the United States, to reach this Palestinian national understanding. He said these efforts reflect genuine political will to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and to end the worsening humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Yamahi stressed the need to compel the Israeli occupation to fully respect the agreement and to completely withdraw from the Gaza Strip, in a manner that consolidates calm and paves the way for early recovery and reconstruction. He also called for the opening of all crossings without restrictions and for ensuring the safe and sustained entry of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to all parts of Gaza to meet the urgent needs of the population.
He held the occupation fully responsible under international law for any violations of the ceasefire agreement or obstruction of its implementation, warning that continued violations, delays in withdrawal, or restrictions on crossings constitute grave breaches of international humanitarian law and international legitimacy resolutions, and warrant accountability before relevant international judicial mechanisms.
Al-Yamahi further urged the international community not to provide political or legal cover for the occupation and to take deterrent measures to ensure compliance with its obligations and an end to attacks against the Palestinian people.
He emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to unify Palestinian positions to overcome the current critical phase, advance toward unity of the Palestinian political system and independent national decision-making, defend Palestinian rights, and confront plans to annex the West Bank, expand settlements, and commit violations against religious holy sites in the city of Jerusalem.
