On Wednesday, the Arab Parliament voiced its solidarity and full support for Egypt and Sudan's demand to ensure their legitimate rights in the Nile water, praising the ongoing efforts that contribute to solving this crisis by reaching a legally binding agreement regarding the filling and operation of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
In a statement, the parliament said that the trilateral agreement should take into account the interests of all parties And preserve the water and economic rights of the Nile basin countries in accordance with international laws, stressing that the water security of Egypt and Sudan is an integral part of the Arab national security.
It also affirmed its categorical rejection of any unilateral measures by Ethiopia, calling on it to stop imposing its policy of fait accompli, which may lead to an escalation of the crisis and increase regional tensions between the three countries.
The Parliament also urged Ethiopia to fully respond to the relentless efforts made by Egypt under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi with the aim of reaching a legal and binding agreement regarding the filling and operation of the dam, as this is the best solution to end the crisis and maintain security and stability in the region.
