Arab Parliament Speaker Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi welcomed the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, which witnessed the signing of the Gaza Agreement to end hostilities in the Strip, describing it as “a summit that restored hope for ending the tragedy of Gaza.”
Al-Yamahi said the agreement marks a historic step toward ending the war, achieving peace, and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people that has continued for two years, calling it “the close of a painful chapter in human history.”
He praised Egypt’s pivotal role, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in hosting and sponsoring the summit and leading intensive political and diplomatic efforts that resulted in the agreement. “Egypt has always been at the forefront of supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the rights of the Palestinian people in regional and international forums,” he said.
Al-Yamahi also commended the efforts of the United States, led by President Donald Trump, for supporting the regional efforts to reach the ceasefire agreement and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza without restrictions. He further acknowledged the contributions of Qatar, Turkey, and other participating leaders in ensuring the success of the summit.
The Arab Parliament Speaker stressed that the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit represents a turning point in international efforts to end the war in Gaza and a model of Arab and international cooperation for achieving peace and stability in the region. He called on the international community to build on the agreement’s momentum, ensure its implementation, and support Gaza’s reconstruction efforts, empowering the Palestinian National Authority to assume its role in administering the Strip, paving the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in line with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
