Arab Parliament Speaker Welcomes Belgium's Settlement Goods Ban, Urges Wider Sanctions

Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi welcomed Belgium's decision to ban imports of goods produced in Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, describing the move as a victory for international law and a clear rejection of what he called illegal settlement activity.

Al Yamahi urged other countries, particularly European Union member states, to adopt similar measures by prohibiting settlement products and ending economic dealings linked to Israeli settlements. He also called for sanctions against settlements, companies operating within them, and entities supporting settlement activities.

The Arab Parliament speaker further called for suspending trade privileges and agreements with Israel until it complies with international law, halts settlement expansion, and implements relevant U.N. resolutions.

He urged the international community to move beyond statements of condemnation and take concrete action to end impunity and support the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
