Arab Parliament president receives Chargé d'Affaires of Chinese Ambassador in Cairo

The President of the Arab Parliament H.E. Mr. Adel bin AbdulRahman AlAsoomi, received today by H.E. Mr. Zhang Tao, Minister Plenipotentiary and Chargé d 'Affaires of the Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, who delivered a letter from H.E. Mr. Li Zhanshu , Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (Parliament) of the People's Republic of China, on the development of relations between the Arab Parliament and the Parliament of the People's Republic of China, to strengthen Arab-Chinese relations at the parliamentary level.

During the meeting, the President of the Arab Parliament emphasized that the Arab-Chinese cooperation relations at the governmental level are strong and multidimensional, as reflected in the First China-Arab Summit, held in Saudi Arabia, in which he has participated.

AlAsoomi added that the Arab Parliament is keen to have similar developments in the Arab-Chinese parliamentary relations, through the institutionalization of relations between the Arab Parliament and the Parliament of China.

AlAsoomi clarified that the Arab States are keen to strengthen their relations with the People's Republic of China and cherish their longstanding friendship with China at all levels, adding that China is a great power and gives a pioneering development experience.

From his side, H.E. Minister Plenipotentiary and Chargé d 'Affaires of the Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, said that the People's Republic of China is very interested in strengthening its relations with the Arab States and acts to use its international weight to promote security and stability in the region, adding that the Parliament of the People's Republic of China is also keen to have strong and institutional relations with the Arab Parliament through a number of steps to be coordinated in the upcoming period between the two sides.
