The Arab Parliament has commended the Slovenian Parliament for its decision to recognize Palestine as an independent sovereign state in accordance with international law and UN Security Council resolutions. This recognition is seen as a significant victory for Palestinian diplomacy in its quest for justice and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.
The Arab Parliament emphasized that this crucial step aligns with the global trend of recognizing the State of Palestine, supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, primarily the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The recognition by Slovenia follows shortly after similar recognitions by Spain, Ireland, and Norway, contributing to the growing international acknowledgment of the State of Palestine. This development is regarded as a practical response to the failed plans of the occupying entity to undermine the Palestinian cause, amid the ongoing genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement of Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the West Bank.
The Arab Parliament called on all countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to proceed with such recognition as a step towards ending the historical injustice faced by the Palestinian people due to decades of occupation. It reiterated the importance of adhering to the internationally recognized two-state solution, based on international legitimacy and resolutions, urging the international community and all nations to support the just cause of the Palestinian people.
