The Arab Parliament (AP) praised Yemen’s new Presidential Leadership Council, describing it as a real step towards achieving security and stability for Yemen and its people.
The Council was sworn in, on Tuesday, before the parliament in a ceremony held in Aden. Headed by the Speaker of the Council, Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakan, the swearing-in was attended by foreign ambassadors, the US and UN envoys to Yemen.
The Parliament considered the event a milestone and a real beginning that will bring security and stability and end Yemen's protracted crisis, reiterating its solidarity and full support to the Yemeni Council,
Moreover, it highlighted its aspiration to end the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the terms of reference represented by the Gulf Initiative, the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni national dialogue and the UN Security Council Resolution (2216).
The Arab Parliament also reaffirmed its firm position and support for peaceful resolution efforts to ensure Yemen's unity and territorial integrity, and meet the aspirations of its people for security, peace and stability.
In the same vein, the legislative assembly underscored the Council's role in restoring peace and stability in Yemen, addressing the economic and living situation and rebuilding its institutions.
The AP wished the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi and its members, all success in carrying out its national responsibilities notably at this milestone to serve Yemen and its people.
