Arab Parliament Condemns Failed Assassination Attempt on Iraqi PM

Today, Sunday, the Arab Parliament condemned the failed assassination attempt that targeted Iraqi prime minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi  as an explosive-laden drone targeted his residence in Baghdad, stressing its rejection of these heinous terrorist attacks.

In a statement, the Arab Parliament stressed its full solidarity with the Republic of Iraq and the Iraqi people, pointing out to the need to take the necessary measures to preserve Iraqi security, stability and territorial integrity.

The Arab Parliament also stressed that Iraq's security is an integral part of Arab national security, calling for an immediate investigation into this failed criminal operation aimed at targeting state institutions.

Noteworthy, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi escaped an assassination attempt on Sunday after an explosive-laden drone targeted his residence in Baghdad, the country's military said.

 

Al-Kadhimi went on to Twitter moments after the attack and called for "calm and restraint from everyone."

"Thank God, I am fine and among my people," he tweeted on his official account, according to CNN.
