Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi on Thursday called for shifting from managing crises to addressing their root causes through sustainable Arab solutions, emphasizing the importance of collective action to confront regional challenges that threaten Arab national security.
Speaking at the opening of the second session of the fourth legislative term of the Arab Parliament, held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Al-Yamahi stressed full solidarity with all Arab nations facing political, security, and humanitarian challenges. The session was attended by Rolando Patricio, President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament.
Al-Yamahi reaffirmed that the Palestinian issue remains the central cause of the Arab nation, asserting that a just and comprehensive peace begins and ends with ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He praised Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye for their role in reaching the Gaza ceasefire agreement during talks in Sharm El-Sheikh, urging Arab and international unity to rebuild Gaza under an Arab-led reconstruction plan. He also called on global institutions to participate in the upcoming reconstruction conference in Egypt this November and to hold Israel accountable for war crimes before international courts.
