The Arab League on Monday welcomed a ceasefire agreement and the full integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into Syria’s state institutions, calling it a key step toward rebuilding the country and strengthening its sovereignty.
In a statement dated Jan. 19, 2026, the Arab League’s General Secretariat said the agreement, announced by the Syrian presidency on Jan. 18, would help reinforce state institutions, extend government authority across Syrian territory and advance the construction of a “new Syrian state” based on national partnership.
The league described the move as consistent with a recent Syrian presidential decree emphasizing inclusive governance and administrative integration.
Reaffirming its position, the Arab League said it remains committed to supporting Syria’s sovereignty, stability, unity and territorial integrity, and stressed the importance of continued and intensified Arab efforts to assist Syria during the current phase.
