The Council of the League of Arab States, meeting at the level of permanent representatives, called on the President of the United States to honor commitments made to Arab and Islamic countries to prevent the annexation of the occupied West Bank, saying such steps are essential for regional peace and stability.
In a resolution issued after an extraordinary session in Cairo, the council also urged Argentina not to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem, warning the move would violate international law, U.N. resolutions and harm Arab-Argentine relations.
Arab diplomats strongly condemned recent Israeli government decisions, including settlement expansion, land seizures, home demolitions and administrative changes in Hebron, describing them as grave violations of international law.
The council reaffirmed unwavering Arab support for Palestinian rights, including self-determination and a sovereignity over a state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, while calling for international protection for Palestinian civilians and sustained support for UNRWA.
