Secretary-General of Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, received Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun during his first visit to Arab League headquarters since assuming office.
Jamal Rushdi, spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that Aboul Gheit welcomed Lebanese President to the "House of the Arabs" and briefed him on the decisions and outcomes of the recent Arab Summit held in Baghdad.
Moreover, Aboul Ghiet underlines the importance of the resolution to establish the Arab Fund for Recovery and Reconstruction from Crisis Impacts, to which the Iraqi government pledged $40 million, of which will be allocated to support reconstruction efforts in Lebanon.
In addition, Secretary-General congratulated President Aoun on his recent visits to Arab countries, which he described as a strong indication that a new era has begun for Lebanon and that a renewed relationship between Lebanon and its Arab surroundings is underway.
Rushdi added that Aboul Gheit affirmed Arab League's commitment and readiness to continue supporting Lebanon through all stages of its national journey.
He emphasized the League's dedication to strengthening Lebanese state sovereignty, promoting civil peace, and contributing to Lebanon’s recovery, development, and prosperity.
