On Saturday, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, met with Mr. Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey.
Ambassador Jamal Rushdi, the spokesperson for the Arab League Secretary-General, stated that Aboul Gheit emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two organizations and exploring the possibility of elevating the level of their relationship. The two sides also discussed recent international developments, particularly economic changes in light of recent U.S. tariff policies, as well as ongoing regional issues.
Rushdi added that Mr. Yermekbayev affirmed the SCO’s strong interest in strengthening ties with the Arab League, highlighting the presence of common challenges that require joint action, as well as opportunities for collaboration that could be harnessed. He confirmed the organization's readiness to structure and advance this cooperation.
The SCO Secretary-General also extended an official invitation to Aboul Gheit to visit the organization in the near future.
