The Arab League's monitoring mission for the 2024 Egyptian Presidential Elections, led by Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim Al-Thawadi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, has lauded the success of the elections.
There has been considerable praise from both Arab and international communities for the efficiency and organization of the electoral process facilitated by the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In a statement to the Middle East News Agency, Ambassador Al-Thawadi remarked, "The large turnout of voters, which was highly commended by media and election observers from various Arab and international countries, was assessed through specific studies."
He highlighted Egypt's provision of extensive facilities and preparations for the successful execution of the elections and the adept handling by various state agencies.
The significant role of social media and traditional media in enlightening the public about the electoral process was also noted.
The head of the mission emphasized the substantial role played by various media outlets in conjunction with the state authorities in Egypt, which contributed to the overall success of the elections. This led to widespread acclaim from all sectors and nations, as observed.
"The Thawadi" continued, "We met with many observers and analysts who praised the achievements made in these elections. Congratulations to Egypt and both the official and civil entities that played a part in this role."
Observers from the Arab League were deployed during the three days of voting across six governorates in the Republic, namely Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Port Said, Ismailia, and Faiyum.
The mission teams visited 507 polling stations, including those for expatriates, spread across 356 voting centers.
The Arab League's Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, had directed the formation of the mission, headed by Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim Al-Thawadi and comprising experienced observers from the General Secretariat belonging to 12 Arab nationalities: Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Comoros, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, and Morocco.
The mission will release its final report, including detailed observations and recommendations, after the designated period for appeals and the announcement of the final results of the 2024 Egyptian Presidential Elections.
This report will be submitted to the Arab League's Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and subsequently sent to the relevant authorities in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
