The world is observing World Interfaith Harmony Week this first week of February, a global initiative established by the UN General Assembly to foster mutual understanding and a culture of peace.
The Arab League issued a statement Sunday emphasizing that interfaith harmony is a vital pillar for stability and sustainable development. The organization highlighted the initiative's role in addressing global challenges, including hate speech, discrimination, and religious intolerance.
"Interfaith dialogue is an essential step toward building a future rooted in respect and human dignity," the League stated, urging member states to integrate principles of tolerance into educational curricula.
The League called for a unified international effort involving governments and civil society to reject extremism and build bridges between diverse cultures. Established in 2010, the week serves as a reminder that religious diversity is a source of strength for humanity.
