The League of Arab States has issued a fierce condemnation of the Israeli Knesset’s recent approval of a law allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners. The League’s Sector of Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories called upon the international community, the United Nations, the Security Council, and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to take immediate action to nullify the legislation and hold Israeli leaders accountable.

In a formal statement, the Arab League characterized the law as a "dangerous escalation" that directly threatens the lives and basic rights of Palestinian detainees. The League emphasized the urgent need for international protection for prisoners held in Israeli jails.

The statement further asserted that the law is a "blatant violation" of international humanitarian law and global conventions. By imposing the death penalty with minimal judicial safeguards and targeting a specific group based on their national identity, the League argues the legislation amounts to a "war crime" and a "crime against humanity."

"This move represents an extremely grave escalation that could further destabilize the region and lead to increased tension and unrest," the statement warned. The Arab League also linked the new law to a broader pattern of Israeli policies including mass arrests, torture, and medical negligence directed at the Palestinian people.

Concluding its statement, the Arab League reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian struggle for national rights, including the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
