Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy condemned the Israeli military for blowing up an entire neighborhood in southern Lebanon, describing the demolition as a continuation of "barbaric and brutal behavior."
The statement came after Israeli forces reportedly destroyed a residential area in the Bint Jbeil district. Fahmy strongly criticized the operation, stating that the approach of inflicting collective punishment on civilian populations is a "blatant and unacceptable" violation of international humanitarian law.
In a press release, the secretary-general urged global powers to intervene.
"The international community and the Security Council must assume their responsibilities and stand against this expansionist tendency," Fahmy said. He added that such military actions recognize only "the law of force and the approach of brutality and oppression toward the countries and peoples of the region."
