Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, condemned in the strongest terms the attack launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) the day before yesterday against humanitarian aid convoys and relief workers in North Kordofan State, Sudan.

The attack resulted in the loss of lives and the destruction of food supplies destined for besieged civilians facing dire humanitarian conditions.

Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, conveyed Aboul Gheit's assertion that this assault constitutes a full-fledged war crime under international humanitarian law, which criminalizes the deliberate targeting of civilians and the deprivation of their means of survival.

Aboul Gheit emphasized the necessity of holding those responsible for these crimes accountable and ending impunity. He also stressed the importance of providing full protection for civilians, humanitarian workers, and relief facilities across Sudan.

The spokesperson stated that the Sudanese people, who have endured immense burdens due to the conflict, have the full right to security, stability, and the fulfillment of their legitimate aspirations for a dignified life.

He reaffirmed that the Arab League will continue its efforts with regional and international partners to stop the violence and support a comprehensive political path that ends the conflict, preserves Sudan's unity and national institutions, and safeguards the dignity of its people
