This morning, the General Federation of Arab Journalists strongly condemned the American so-called deal of the century and called on Arab governments to stand together against it.

In an official statement, the federation said "the deal of the century was prepared without the consent of the international community and ignored the relevant United Nations principles and resolutions. It reflects the way super powers think about international conventions and their blatant disregard to them."

The statement added that US President Donald Trump’s plan does not have any political credibility and only serves the interest of the Israeli occupation and its settlements project.

The federation said the plan will undermine the two-state solution agreed on by the international community, with the exception of the United States and the occupying power, and that it amounts to nothing more than American support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming elections.

The General Federation of Arab Journalists called on all Arab countries to take a united position to confront this plan, which does not fulfill the legitimate aspirations and rights of the Palestinian Arab people to establish their independent state on their national soil with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Earlier today, Palestinians rallied the streets to protest the American so-called deal of the century, hours before Trump revealed it in Washington.

According to WAFA, Palestinians clashed with Israeli soldiers in Arroub refugee camp in the south of the West Bank. The soldiers fired back rubber-coated, metal bullets and tear gas causing several minor injuries.

Rallies were also organized in Gaza and in several West Bank cities denouncing the American plan, which Palestinians believe is intended to end their cause in favor of the occupying power, Israel.
