Arab and Islamic leaders meeting in Doha on Monday issued a unified condemnation of Israel’s attack on Qatar, calling it a “grave violation of international law” and a threat to regional and global security.

The emergency joint summit, convened by the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was hosted by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Leaders expressed “absolute solidarity” with Qatar after an Israeli strike on Sept. 9 that hit a residential area in Doha, killing a Qatari citizen and injuring civilians. The site had housed delegations engaged in mediation efforts.

In their final communiqué, leaders denounced Israel’s “aggressive practices,” including settlement expansion, siege tactics, and what they described as “crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing.” They urged the international community to impose punitive measures, including sanctions, against Israel and to halt its repeated violations of sovereignty across the region.

The summit also highlighted Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza, warning that continued impunity undermines international law and fuels instability. Leaders reaffirmed support for Palestinian statehood on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, while condemning any attempts at annexation or forced displacement of Palestinians.

Qatar’s role as a mediator in hostage negotiations and cease-fire talks was praised, with leaders stressing that the attack on Doha also constituted an assault on diplomatic efforts. The statement called for urgent humanitarian aid access to Gaza and reiterated backing for Jordan’s custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
