The Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries took part in the inauguration of cardiology and sports cardiology units at Lumumba New Hospital in Zanzibar, under the patronage of Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
The initiative aims to strengthen specialized health services and build local medical capacity. Alongside the opening, the fund concluded a specialized training program for doctors and nursing staff, delivered in cooperation with Egyptian-African cardiology organizations through scientific courses and hands-on workshops.
As part of the practical component, joint medical teams successfully performed several cardiac catheterization procedures for critically ill patients, integrating training with patient care.
During the closing ceremony, League of Arab States Assistant Secretary-General Mohand Saleh Laajouzi conveyed greetings from Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, reaffirming the fund’s commitment to sustained technical support and long-term health cooperation in Zanzibar.
