The Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries on Monday launched a diplomatic training program in the Comorian capital, Moroni, under the patronage of Foreign Minister Mohamed Mbae.

The four-day course, running from May 4 to May 7, brings together 50 Comorian diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other national institutions. The program is led by Ambassador Ayman Musharraf, a former Egyptian assistant foreign minister.

The opening ceremony was overseen by Ambassador Mohand Saleh Laajouzi, assistant secretary-general of the Arab League and director-general of the fund, alongside senior Comorian officials, including Acting Foreign Minister Mohamed Hussein Jamel Al-Lail and presidential advisers.

In remarks, Laajouzi said the initiative reflects deepening cooperation between the Arab League and the Comoros, noting it is the second such program held in Moroni. He also conveyed greetings from Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, highlighting continued support for capacity building in the island nation.

The training aims to enhance participants’ skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, multilateral diplomacy and African cooperation, officials said, as part of broader efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and regional collaboration.
