On Friday, the Arab alliance forces stated that it intercepted and demolished an explosive-laden drone launched by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis militarily toward the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to Asharq Al-Awsat news agency.

In a statement, Arab Alliance Forces Spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki explained it was taking “all necessary operational measures to protect civilians against terrorist attacks.”

"The Arab alliance forces managed to destroy a booby-trapped drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia regularly and intentionally to target civilians in the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait." the statement added.

Furthermore, the forces indicated previously that Iranian violations against the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and aggressive actions by the Houthis militia are a clear provocation meant to perpetuate and boost the conflict.

On the other hand, Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis group announced earlier this day they had attacked Saudi energy and military sites with 18 armed drones.

In the same context, the Houthis’ actions are prolonging the suffering of the Yemeni people and jeopardizing peace efforts at a critical moment when the international community is increasingly united behind a ceasefire and a resolution of the conflict, according to the spokesman for the United States Department of State Ned Price.

It’s worth noting that, the Iranian missile attack comes days after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen announced a commitment to reach a ceasefire and engage in UN-led peace talks, according to international reports.
