Apple started trial production of semitransparent lenses to be used in an AR device of the future.

According Apple, the lenses are at least one to two years away from mass production, as is the product they are being created for. It is not established within the report whether these lenses are for AR/VR headset, or its lightweight notification glasses dubbed Apple Glass.

The report notes Apple needs to establish whether it can "reliably manufacture" millions of lenses in order to mass-produce these devices.

The Information’s report is yet another indication that Apple could be in the process of developing an AR headset, which is widely expected to be its next major product category since the Apple Watch.

The company is aiming to release the headset in 2022 before debuting AR glasses in 2023, as reports from The Information and Bloomberg have previously indicated.

Apple announced during the annual developer conference ”WWDC 2020” about a prominent operating system (iOS 14) that will find great welcome from users, and is a feature of controlling who tracks you online.

This feature was already provided by Apple to iPhone users in the current version of iOS 13, as it enabled For users The ability to better control the applications that collect your data for the purpose of targeting you with ads, but to activate the feature, it takes a lot of steps to apply the settings in the iPhone.

But when the final version of the operating system (iOS 14) is launched during the fall of this year 2020, the ways to activate the feature will change dramatically, as the user will be able to know how each application in his phone tracks it, and the amount of data it collects.

The user will know when the apps try to track it across the different services that it uses; Because he will receive a direct notification on his phone screen saying ”There is an application that wants to obtain permission to track you through applications and websites owned by other companies, and your data will be used to provide ads tailored to you”.

Meanwhile, developers are going to need to remake their widgets if they want them to work on the home screen but that same code can be reused on the next version of macOS. Apple explaind that’s because the new widgets are updated on Apple’s schedule and therefore eat up less battery life. On that timeline of widget updates, apps can declare the priority of their new information and that might put them at the top of the smart stack.
