Apple is reportedly preparing to delay the launch of the standard iPhone 18 until spring 2027, breaking with a release tradition that has remained largely unchanged for more than a decade, according to growing technology reports.
If confirmed, the move would mark the first time Apple postpones the release of its mainline iPhone model beyond the usual autumn launch window.
Instead of debuting in fall 2026, the iPhone 18 is now expected to arrive several months later.
Despite the strong commercial success of the iPhone 17, which was launched in 2025, analysts say it will remain Apple’s latest standard iPhone for more than 18 months, an unprecedented scenario for the company.

For years, Apple has unveiled its full iPhone lineup in September. However, reports suggest the company is now considering a staggered release strategy, splitting launches across different seasons rather than revealing all models at once.
Under the new approach, Apple would prioritize its high-end models in the fall, while delaying standard and more affordable versions until the following year.
As a result, the standard iPhone 18 is not expected to launch in 2026. Instead, Apple is reportedly planning to introduce the following devices in fall 2026:
The regular iPhone 18 would then be released in spring 2027, alongside the iPhone 18e and the iPhone Air 2, according to MacRumors.
