Apple strengthened its dominance of the global smartphone market during the first quarter of 2026, capturing a 30.86% market share to remain the world’s top-selling mobile phone brand, according to new data released by research firm StatCounter.
The U.S. technology giant widened its lead over South Korea’s Samsung Electronics, which ranked second with a 20.66% share of the global market.
The latest figures underscore Apple’s sustained momentum in the premium smartphone segment since 2023, fueled by strong global demand for iPhone devices and growing consumer loyalty to the company’s tightly integrated ecosystem of hardware and software services.
Industry analysts attributed the company’s performance in part to continued demand for high-end models, particularly the Pro and Pro Max series, alongside Apple’s broader expansion into new international markets.
Samsung, which briefly reclaimed the top spot in 2022 thanks to its diversified lineup of entry-level and mid-range smartphones, has since lost ground as Apple reinforced its position in the premium category.
Apple’s latest smartphone lineup, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air, helped drive global sales growth during recent months, the report said.
China’s Xiaomi ranked third globally with a 9.45% market share, maintaining its position among the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers.
Meanwhile, Vivo secured fourth place with 6.15%, narrowly ahead of OPPO at 6.02%, reflecting the two Chinese brands’ continued expansion across Asian and international markets.
Other manufacturers also retained notable market positions during the quarter. Realme captured 4.16% of the global market, while Motorola accounted for 3.26%.
The report further showed that Huawei achieved a 2.07% market share despite ongoing international challenges facing the company, while Google held 1.94%.
