AP Welcomes Yemeni President's Decision to Delegate Powers to Presidential Leadership Council

The Arab Parliament (AP) welcomed Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to establish a Presidential Leadership Council to proceed with the duties of the transitional period and delegating the council with all powers of the president of the republic according to the constitution and the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms.

In a statement, the AP stresses its full support for the Presidential Leadership Council and assisting entities to enable it to practice duties in implementing effective policies and initiatives that would realize security and stability in Yemen and end the Yemeni crisis.

The AP underlined the importance to build on the existing intra-Yemeni consultations to reach a final solution to the crisis under the auspices of the United Nations to put an end to the suffering of the Yemeni people and to realize their aspirations for security, development, and stability.

The AP also praised Saudi Arabia's announcement of urgent support for the Yemeni economy for $3 billion, the support includes $2 billion equally from KSA and UAE to support the Central Bank of Yemen, besides the support granted for petroleum products and development projects and initiatives, and funding for the 2022 United Nations humanitarian response plan to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and improve their living conditions.

Moreover, it called on supporting Saudi Arabia's initiative to convene an international conference to mobilize the necessary support for the Yemeni economy and the Central Bank and the provision of oil derivatives.
