The Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) is unveiling a wide range of new defense technologies at this year’s Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2025), with its chairman describing the event as a vital platform for engaging with global industry leaders.

According to Extra News, Lt. Gen. Mokhtar Abdel Latif, AOI Chairman, said that EDEX offers “an important window” for the organization to connect with more than 500 international companies specializing in advanced weapons systems. The exhibition, he added, is also an opportunity to exchange expertise and enhance Egypt’s growing defense-manufacturing capabilities.

Abdel Latif said the AOI is showcasing 57 products this year, including 18 new systems, ranging from armored vehicles and unmanned aerial and ground platforms to missile technologies and counter-drone systems. Many of these innovations are being displayed for the first time at the AOI pavilion.

Among the highlights is a new integrated counter-UAV system, developed in cooperation with a foreign partner. The system includes a 3D radar, jamming suite, electro-optical unit, and a 23mm cannon, all mounted on an artificial-intelligence-enabled platform designed to detect, track, and neutralize hostile drones.

The AOI is also presenting a new loitering munition (suicide drone) making its debut at EDEX.  The drone can be launched from portable platforms, is designed to strike armored targets, and has a range of up to 6 kilometers.

Another new system on display is the “Scorpion” unmanned ground vehicle, capable of operating across all terrains. The platform is equipped with a 23mm cannon mounted on a remote-control firing station and has a range of 20 kilometers, providing fire-support capabilities for ground forces.

Abdel Latif emphasized that AOI’s participation at EDEX reflects Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its domestic defense industry and expanding cooperation with global partners.
