On Thursday, the Arab Observatory for Human Rights (AOHR) affiliated with the Arab Parliament confirmed its keenness to establish specific and effective Arab steps and initiatives with national structures concerned with human rights in the Arab States over the coming period.

It added that this will positively be in line with the efforts of the Arab States and their constant interest in advancing and developing the Arab human rights file and advancing the objectives of the AOHR for the promotion and protection of human rights in the Arab States.

This came during the meeting of the AOHR in Cairo - Egypt, chaired by Hon. Mr. Adel Bin AbdulRahman Al-Alasoomi, President of the Arab Parliament and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the AOHR, which witnessed the signing of two cooperation agreements with the National Institute for Human Rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by HE. Engineer Ali Al-Darazi CEO of the Institute, and the National Council for Public Freedoms and Human Rights in the State of Libya, represented by HE. Dr. Omar Hamad Attia Allah, Chairman of the Council.

The AOHR noted the importance of the joint cooperation agreements that had been signed, reflecting the serious steps taken by the AOHR to promote and protect human rights in the Arab States and serve the positive developments in the field of human rights in the Arab world, as well as the major development in its institutions that reflects the keenness of Arab States to protect and strengthen the human rights system.

The AOHR emphasized the importance of a unified Arab voice in the face of all biased campaigns and reports issued by external organizations and bodies, which deal with the human rights situation in the Arab States by relying on fragile foundations and false sources, and without proof of good faith through referring to national institutions and structures in the Arab States.
