Anatoly Antonov, the Russian ambassador to Washington announced that the US intelligence is trying to persuade Russian media workers to cooperate.
Russian journalists working in the US are being harassed. They face a direct ban on broadcasting on American territory. They have limited access to official events, according to a statement issued by Russia's Embassy in the US and published on "Telegram".
"The process of obtaining visas is also complicated. Bank accounts are frozen and intelligence agents try to persuade the Russian journalists to cooperate," the statement added.
Antonov indicated that Washington is also trying to organize a media blockade of Russian journalists in the US territory, noting that the many attempts of the embassy to inform ordinary American citizens of Moscow's position on the most issues of international politics are categorically rejected by the local media, with exceptions as "malicious propaganda". There is no possibility to disseminate the information even on a commercial basis.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova previously reported that US FBI agents tried to persuade the head of a press office of a media outlet to cooperate, while the United States continues to impose more restrictions on journalists with aim of intimidating them and pushing them to leave.
