The military spokesman for the Yemeni Ansar Allah group, Brigadier General Yahiya Saree, announced yesterday, Tuesday, that its navy targeted the merchant ship, “MSC United,” with suitable naval missiles after its crew ignored warning messages.

Saree said, in a televised statement: The attack on the ship is a response to the injustice to which the Palestinian people are exposed, and therefore the naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out an operation to target a commercial ship, “MSC United”, with appropriate naval missiles.

Saree added: “The Yemeni Armed Forces’ Air Force also carried out a military operation with several drones against military targets in the Umm al-Rashrash area (the Israeli port of Eilat overlooking the Red Sea) and other areas in occupied Palestine (Israel)”

However, the Yemeni government announced, “The repercussions of the Ansar Allah group’s attacks on ships in the Red Sea are leading to an increase in maritime shipping costs and an increase in food prices in Yemen.”
