Angelina Jolie announced on Monday that she is selling the only painting Winston Churchill made during World War II to Christie's.

This painting was gifted to the former US President Franklin Roosevelt.

It will go under the hammer on 3 March with an estimated price o £1.5 million to £2.5 million ($2.1 million to $3.4 million).

The painting depicted a Moroccan landscape of the Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque as Churchill was inspired by such a scene during his trip to Morocco.

The piece had various owners before it was bought by Jolie in 2011.

The head of the modern British art department at Christie's Nick Orchard described the artwork as “arguably the best painting by Winston Churchill due to the significance of the subject matter to him, and the fact that it highlights the importance of the friendship between the two leaders.”
