In the midst of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, American actress Angelina Jolie headed to western Ukraine to meet refugees there.

The administration of the Lviv region said that as a part of her tour, Jolie visited children in a hospital who were injured in a missile attack on a railway station in Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine, about three weeks ago.

Pictures show Jolie, 46, embracing children and taking selfies with medical staff. "It was an unexpected visit for all of us," Lviv governor Maksym Kozytskyy said. He added that many did not believe their eyes.

A video also showed Jolie rushing to a shelter to take cover from airstrikes while the siren sounded.

Another video was also circulated on social media, showing the American actress as an envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, while she is in a café in Lviv.

Many have fled from many parts of Ukraine to this region in the west of the country since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24.
