Oscar-winning filmmaker Ang Lee, who helmed Life of Pi and Hidden Dragon, is collaborating with his son, Mason Lee, in his upcoming action movie "Bruce Lee" for Sony’s 3000 Pictures.
Ang Lee is directing the project from a script by Dan Futterman.
The project has seen previous versions by Jean Castelli, Alex Law, Mabel Cheung, and, most recently, Wells Tower.
Mason Lee is set to play the role of the iconic martial artist and the Chinese American actor best known for such as "Fists of Fury" and "Enter the Dragon".
Lawrence Grey, Shannon Lee, Ang Lee, Ben Everard, and Brian Bell are producing. Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva are overseeing the project for the studio.
The acclaimed director has been working quietly on the project for a long time, and that includes getting his son ready for action.
Mason Lee has been training for this role in Asia for the past three years, all through the lockdown.
He has appeared in "Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk", "The Hangover Part II", and most recently he starred in the Taiwanese romantic comedy "Stand By Me", the Hong Kong drama "Limbo", and "Who Killed Cock Robin" (Mu Ji Zhe).
Mason Lee was nominated for the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor for both films.
