"By the dawn; And [by] ten nights; And [by] the even and the odd; And [by] the night when it passes." (The Holy Quran)
Happy New Year [on this blessed occasion]... Tomorrow marks the beginning of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, those blessed days that bring with them special spiritual breezes, restoring serenity and tranquility to souls and hearts. They are beautiful days when people unite in obedience, goodness, and love.
Since the first moment the crescent moon of Dhul-Hijjah appears, Takbeerat (glorifications of God) echo was heard through mosques and homes. Everyone is engaged—some are fasting, some are standing in prayer, increasing their supplications. while others prepare to travel to the Sacred House of Allah to perform the pilgrimage (Hajj), and many open their hearts to goodness and helping others.
These days hold a grand status with Allah, as He swore by them in the Holy Quran, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that righteous deeds during them are more beloved to Allah than in any other days. Therefore, people are keen to pray, thank Allah, read the Quran, maintain kinship ties, and give charity; they are days when souls draw closer, and tranquility and contentment prevail.
Egyptians always have their own unique way of welcoming blessed seasons, where generosity is ever-present, and the desire to bring joy to others is an inherent part of the Egyptian character. We see those who think of others before themselves, those who seek to comfort broken hearts, and those who open doors of affection and social solidarity.
During these blessed days, the meanings of mercy, and love are renewed among people. The simplest details become capable of making a profound impact: a sincere prayer, rekindling kinship ties, or a kind word.
The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are an opportunity for self-reflection, drawing closer to Allah, and holding onto everything that makes hearts purer and more merciful.
We ask Allah to bless us during these holy days, to accept our righteous deeds, to protect us from all evil, to safeguard Egypt, its President, and its people, to grant it lasting security and peace, and to provide everyone with goodness, protection, and tranquility.
May Allah accept from us and from you our righteous deeds... Happy returns.
