Mecca's secretariat announced, on Thursday evening, through its account on "Twitter", the discovery of ancient tombs dating back to the 13th century in Mecca, Sky News Arabia reported.
Mecca's secretariat said, in a tweet, that "While a contractor was digging within his work in a new smart car parking project next to Al-Mualla cemeteries, tombstones dating back to 687 AH (1288/1289 AD) were found.
The secretariat added that coordination will be made to hand over these historic tombs to the competent authorities.
