Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled El Anany said on Saturday all the museums and archaeological sites nationwide will be opened as of September 1.
Anany was holding a meeting with a number of the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry' officials, heads of the hotel chambers, and tour operators to endorse regulations of the resumption of the cultural tourism in Egypt.
All the Egyptians and foreigners will be allowed to move between the tourist cites and various museums in buses with a capacity of 50% along with implementing the precautionary measures, according to a statement released by the ministry.
Each tourist group will not exceed 25 people at the archaeological sites and museums. All the groups and guides are obliged to wear face masks.
Museums should be disinfected before opening every day. The staff and visitors should maintain social distancing rules.
At most 200 visitors should tour the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square each hour, 100 visitors for other museums, and 10 to 15 visitors for any pyramid or tomb.
During the meeting, Anany directed the attendees to extend the period of "Summer in Upper Egypt" initiative till October 31 which the ministry adopts to encourage tourists to visit the archaeological sites in Upper Egypt by declining the tickets' prices to 50% for the foreigners.
The minister decided to postpone all Nile cruises till October.
