Amr Moussa: The Egyptian Elite Must Support the New Republic

The Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club received at its headquarters in Cairo Mr. Amr Moussa in a symposium attended by a large number of club members to discuss opinions and political and economic conditions in Egypt and the region, especially in light of the current international changes.

During the symposium, Moussa said that Egypt needs the effort and minds of its youth, as well as the expertise and experience of its elite and that the role of the elite is to deal objectively with developments in order to provide the necessary support for the Egyptian march, which is moving towards the future at an accelerated pace.

Moussa added that the role of the elite lies in the extent of its interaction with the course of affairs in the country and its developments, especially in light of the diminished role of parties and the lack of transparency regarding parliamentary discussions of draft laws and other matters related to Egyptian life, as well as the lack of research centers, the weakness of the Egyptian media message, the lack of professional competence and the lack of innovation enables them to market new ideas.

Amr Moussa stressed that Egypt needs a comprehensive national project in light of the negative legacy resulting from the absence of several elements of good governance for nearly seventy years, starting from the late royal era to the end of the Brotherhood presidency. President Sisi mentioned.

Moussa said that he believes that Egypt is taking confident steps today to build a new republic that is completely different from its heavy legacy and that the national project whose title is the state, or the new republic must be comprehensive first and also be strong in order to confront the known delinquency of the Egyptian bureaucracy to impede attempts to change and development programs and achieve the country’s progress.

Moussa concluded by saying something about the internal situation in Egypt, stressing that the role of the elite is to support the policy of change and prepare for the future through sober opinions and new thoughts so that the state is based on firm foundations and modern capabilities that belong to the twenty-first century in its tools, policies, and programs, as well as in its mind, thought, and spirit.
