Mr. Amr Moussa, former Secretary-General of the Arab League and former Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, returned to Cairo after participating in the Fès Summit on Human Dignity, “KARAMAH – The Fès Summit on Universal Dignity,” held in the historic city of Fès, Morocco, on June 13 and 14, 2026, with the participation of a distinguished group of former heads of state, diplomats, thinkers, and decision-makers from around the world.
Amr Moussa participated as part of the delegation of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center in Azerbaijan, alongside Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Co-Chair of the Center and former Director of the Library of Alexandria, as well as Ms. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius, and several other prominent international figures.
Mr. Amr Moussa
The summit was attended by a number of current and former Moroccan, Arab, European, and American officials, as well as ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of international organizations, and leading research and intellectual centers.
The summit was held at the invitation of Dr. Hakima El Haite, former Moroccan Minister of Environment and President of the “Karamah” Summit, under the theme “Unleashing the Driving Force of Human Dignity.” The event aimed to promote the concept of human dignity as a foundation for dialogue among civilizations and to support peace, coexistence, and international cooperation.

During his keynote speech, Amr Moussa affirmed that human dignity is a universal value that cannot be divided or subject to discrimination, referring to the Quranic verse: “And We have certainly honored the children of Adam.” He emphasized that human dignity must be preserved for everyone without selectivity.
Moussa stressed that any discussion of human dignity remains incomplete unless it includes peoples suffering from occupation, oppression, and violations of their fundamental rights, affirming that the dignity of the Palestinian people is an integral part of global human dignity.
He pointed out that occupation, killing, destruction, land confiscation, and violations of peoples’ rights represent blatant breaches of human dignity and international law, emphasizing that respecting human dignity requires defending peoples’ rights, freedom, and their right to live in security, peace, and dignity.

Moussa also stressed that defending human dignity must not be subject to double standards or selective political considerations, affirming that the credibility of the international system depends on its ability to protect human dignity everywhere and uphold international law.
The Fès Summit concluded its sessions with the “Fès Declaration on Human Dignity,” which aims to establish human dignity as an ethical reference in international relations and strengthen dialogue among civilizations.
