Amr Moussa arrived in Addis Ababa on Sunday, to attend the ceremony of re-selection of His Excellency by the African Union Commission as a representative of North Africa within the new formation of the Panel of the Wise (PoW).
Moussa headed this morning to the headquarters of the African Peace and Security Council, where he met the rest of the commission members, represented by the East counselor Effie Owuor from Kenya, the West, Counselor Babacar Kante from Senegal, and the Center, Domitien Ndayizeye, in addition to Specioza Kazibwe, former Vice President of Uganda.
Moussa also participated in a meeting in which Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, Commissioner for African Peace and Security, welcomed the members as the most important institution that works regularly with the Council.
The commissioner briefed them on several urgent crises taking place in the five African regions. The members then participated in the opening session of the work of the new commission, in which former presidents and historical leaders who contributed to the political life in Africa participated.
The meeting was chaired by the commissioner for the African Peace and Security Council, and many officials of the African Union, with the participation of several ambassadors, diplomats, and representatives of Members States.
The meeting continued with the participation of Amr Moussa, the only member re-elected for a second term, as well as the "new wise" of the African Peace and Security Council to discuss the strategic directives and programs that are the pillars of peace and security for the African Union in promoting peace and security on Africa.
During the first meeting of the commission, Moussa nominated Domitien Ndayizeye, the former president of the Republic of Burundi, to chair the first session of the commission 2022-2023, which won the consensus of the rest of the members, it continued under the chairmanship of the newly elected president.
