Kyiv police announced on Sunday that an American journalist was killed by Russian forces bullets in the Ukrainian region of Irbin.

According to social media posts, Kyiv police said that a journalist working for the American newspaper "New York Times" was killed, and another was wounded by Russian forces' fire in the town of Irbin.

According to the British "Business Insider" website, journalist Brent Raynaud was shot while covering the Russo-Ukrainian war, when Moscow forces opened fire at him near Irbin.

"A 51-year-old world-famous media reporter was killed in Irbin today... Another journalist was injured. Now they are trying to get the victim out of the war zone," police chief Andrei Nebitov wrote on Facebook.

Irbin is located in the west of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and was badly affected by the Russian invasion.
