Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Cairo Mansurbek Kilychev stressed the importance of the results of the first historic visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Egypt.

Mirziyoyev agreed with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to work to raise the level of relations to a comprehensive partnership and to support bilateral cooperation in many fields.

Kilychev added, in a statement to the Middle East News Agency today, that the Uzbek President congratulated el-Sisi during his talks on the successful organization of the Climate Change Conference (COP 27), noting that the talks between the two parties dealt with expanding cooperation in the fields of politics, security, trade and industry, as well as building cultural, humanitarian and educational relations.

He explained that the two presidents expressed their satisfaction with the dynamic development of bilateral relations, the intensification of broad political dialogue, the provision of mutual support within the framework of international organizations such as the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as the strengthening of relations between the Egyptian and Uzbek parliaments.

According to the ambassador, a number of bilateral documents and memorandums of understanding were signed between the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Abu Rayhan al-Biruni and the National Library and Archives of Egypt.

He added that agreements have been reached for the joint implementation of green energy projects, the development of transport routes linking the two countries, the use of free economic zones, and the organization of direct flights.

Both sides expressed their appreciation for the results of the Egyptian-Uzbek Business Forum. More than 20 contracts worth $1.6 billion were signed, according to the ambassador

He added that it was agreed to create favorable conditions to attract mutual investments, taking into account the complementary nature of the Egyptian and Uzbek economies, pointing out that 5 areas of bilateral cooperation were identified in the fields of chemical and electrical industries, textiles, jewelry and pharmaceutical products.

Kilichev mentioned that it was proposed to use the possibilities of free economic zones available in Uzbekistan in order to develop industrial cooperation and establish joint projects with high profitability.
