Amazon has announced a $1 million donation to the inaugural committee for President-elect Donald Trump, following a similar contribution by Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, just a day earlier.
In addition to the monetary contribution, Amazon is providing an in-kind donation valued at $1 million by streaming the January 20 inauguration ceremony live on its Prime Video platform, according to a source close to the company.
Trump revealed in an interview with CNBC that he is returning to the White House with improved relations with tech industry leaders.
He noted that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos plans to visit him next week, building on a recent meeting at Mar-a-Lago with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
During Trump’s previous term, his relationship with major tech companies, including Amazon and Facebook, was often strained.
However, recent statements from Bezos signal a shift in tone. The Amazon founder expressed optimism about the incoming administration, describing Trump as "more composed" and "more stable" compared to the past.
Trump has also engaged with executives from Blue Origin, the space exploration company founded by Bezos, indicating broader discussions about technology and innovation.
