Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company’s cloud computing arm, suffered a major outage on Monday, disrupting internet services for millions of users and major companies worldwide.
The failure, traced to a regional gateway issue on the US East Coast, caused widespread connectivity problems affecting Amazon’s own platforms, including Prime Video, Alexa, and its main shopping site.
Monitoring platform Downdetector reported outages across numerous popular services, including Snapchat, Fortnite, Duolingo, Perplexity, Hulu, Disney+, and the messaging app Signal.
Several European banks, mobile operators, and digital platforms, including WhatsApp and Tinder, also experienced service disruptions.
AWS later confirmed the problem had been fully resolved, citing the mitigation of an underlying DNS issue. The company said most operations had returned to normal.
