Amazon covered on Thursday, the roof of a huge warehouse center of two million square feet in Europe, with 11,500 solar panels, as part of its pledge to switch to renewable energy by 2025 and become net zero carbon across the whole business by 2040.
Amazon’s solar system will generate the equivalent of the electricity needed to run 700 homes for one year. Future Amazon green energy moves could see offsite solar farms and wind turbines to power local grids.
Brittany Stanton, the Senior Energy Programme Manager at the firm exlained, that they were putting their scale and inventive culture to work on sustainability and saving the planet for future generations.
Stanton added that they are proud of the fact that firm has a goal to power its global infrastructure using 100 % renewable energy and they will invest in large off-site renewable energy, wind and solar projects.
On other hand, the company confirmed that latest solar system, future renewable installations and other projects form part of the wider'' Amazon Climate Pledge'', were first announced in 2019.
Amazon Air expanded rapidly during summer 2020, a period otherwise marked by sharp year-over-year declines in air-cargo traffic, the report states.
In contrast, CNBC News explained that the firm's $1.5 billion air hub in northern Kentucky could help give it an edge. The hub scheduled to open in 2021, is designed to have capacity for 100 Amazon-branded planes and handle an estimated 200 flights per day.
This hub appears to be the lynchpin to its efforts to develop a comprehensive array of domestic delivery services across the United States.
